Dabu Co-ord

Inspiration

This co-set is inspired by the quiet elegance of lotuses blooming along India’s coastal waters, interpreted through the lens of traditional Indian storytelling crafts. The lotus, a symbol of resilience, renewal, and feminine grace, is embroidered using Bihar’s Sujani technique  a heritage stitchwork practiced by rural women to narrate stories and beliefs. The base textile features Rajasthan’s Dabu print, a centuries-old mud-resist block printing technique using natural dyes like indigo and madder.

Design Aim

To fuse minimalist silhouettes with Indian textile crafts, creating casual workwear that offers natural comfort, subtle elegance, and a quiet tribute to heritage making tradition effortlessly wearable in modern, everyday life.

Fabric (Craft Fusion & Techniques)

Sujani Embroidery (Bihar): Handstitched lotus motifs using running stitch, featured as subtle highlights on the vest panel.

Dabu Print (Rajasthan): Mud-resist block printing in light green natural dye (Pomegranate rind, Indigo + Myrobalan), forming delicate leaf motifs across the co-set.
